At last - after putting up with unknown delays, worries that my medicals would inexplicably go missing, or that the police check wouldn't arrive in time (who makes a date of 24 dec to get all your paperwork in by?!?!?) since April my visa IS FINALLY OFFICIALLY THROUGH! Yipee!

I'll post all the details & a timescale on this thread - hopefully tomorrow night (have much marking to do tonight - who'd be a teacher, eh? ....Oh that's what got me the 120 points I needed for Oz!!! Maybe I should rephrase..when I have more time!).

Anyway - details to follow for those who are interested!

Congratulations, I can remember the excitement, fear etc that you feel when you get your visa. After being here almost 3 years we now found ourselves reminiscing about when we first arrived, nice memories to have.

We are in a similar position, submitted application in July then case officer wanted all paperwork completed for the 28th December.

We got it all done and finally we have our medicals on the 10th January.
It's then fingers crossed time.

How long after completing your application did you receive a decision?

This is really an exciting time.

Thanks for the messages! I'm soooo excited & a bit confused as personal situation has changed & need to make more hard decisions before I go for definate!

As promised - a more detailed 'timeline' of my application...

I applied for the Class BN, Subclass 136, Skilled Independant visa as follows:

Initial application sent on the 23/5/07
(Confirmation on 4/6/07 & money taken on 2/6/07)

Acknowledgement & case ref number recieved on 17/8/07

Request for medicals & police checks 15/10/07 (to be in by 24/12/07)
(Medicals sent to Sydney 14/11/07 & police check sent to Adelaide on 18/12/07)

Visa clear letter through - Mon 7/1/08 - Yipee!!

Actually quite a quick decision once all the stuff was in - I wasn't expecting that.

For those who would like to know I used a migration agent & apart from me sending worried emails & making phone calls to see if the length of time I was waiting was usual I had very little hassle & worry. So I would recommend finding a good migration agent if you are like me - a person who worries easily!

If you want any more info, just let me know I'll be happy to help if I can. I'll probably be picking your collective brains more often now I'm heading into the unknown (well it's unknown for me anyway!).
