Obviously another quine fae the land of the buttery, i think accents are great especially when you add in local words and phrases, its fab when my father in law has been here as the boys go around for weeks talking about loons and quines and saying nae instead of no and they never swim in anything other than their dookers, the FIL's first language is doric as he's a real country loon and hearing him try to speak proper as he'd call it is a hoot. I dont ever really want to lose my North East accent, the more beers the stronger the accent:D :D

Dont you think you can tell people from certain areas by their faces though?

I'm actually fae the sooth!! Mums a heeland wifie and dad's an East coaster and still have rellies in Aberdeen and loads of people say I sound more Highland than Doonhamer!! Just goes to show how proud I am of me northern heritage!! I found Scots in Aus hold onto their accents even if they moved 50 years ago, whereas English folk get an Aussie twang fairly easily so dinna fash wifie!! Beer and excitement tend to send me a bit"hoots man" too:D
I can certainly tell people who come from an area with very small gene pool,if you know what I mean;)

Butteries - nothing like them anywhere in the world!:p

in blokes, it's not so much an inflexion its the drawl!!!

If a bloke picks up the nasal quality of the aussie make then he's really arrived!

The symptoms are that I'm making statements that sound like questions ?. The tone of my voice rises in pitch towards the end ?.

Damn, and I was trying soooo hard not to catch it ?.

The only cure is to go back to the UK ?. It's not worth that ?.

No worries mates.

Hi,

I'm living in rural Vic. From what I gathered on my travels to your part of SA last year it's much like there. We stayed at the camp site run by peter vetch when we were in goolwa, ann odd chap but the sites only cost about $10 'cos we weren't scoolies. how d'you get on with them infesting yer town eh?? they're a pain but, you're only young once i suppose.. The irish pub there I did not like. there was a pub near the bridge at the top end of town that was much nicer, served decent food too. Also worth a visit was the Robe village festival just down the coast on the last weekend of november. that was a really good weekend. o well, hope you're havin fun in SA... greetings from East Gippsland, VIC!!
