Default IPAD Mobile Broadband Query for UK visitor

Hi Guys,
I am coming over from UK for a month in July. I will be bringing my IPAD. Can anyone advise me the best way to get on line to keep in touch with my folks here and send e-mails etc.
In UK when I go on holiday I buy a mobile broadband card on a PAYG basis for one month. If allows 1Gb of use, whichever runs out first. It costs £10. Can you get these over there? And what is the best network? The one I use over here is www.three.co.uk.
I will be spending a couple of nights in Sydney, usually stay at the Marque hotel near the Central Station, and there are plenty of shops down George St for this type of stuff I think?
Last time I brought my laptop and used an Amazin SIM card but I don't know if this is OK for IPAD?

Best thing to do first, would be to dispose of the old relic. As for the rest sorry don't know.

Amaysim will be good for a 3G pre-paid sim

If you want 4G have a look at Vodafone, Virgin or Optus - Virgin will probably be the best value but Vodafone have the fastest 4G
