Introduction
Hello all,
I have introduced myself on the welcome inn page and thought it best to say hello to you all.
Me, my wife and two children have started to explore the possibilities of emigrating and see Australia as an excellent place to start our research.
I am 38 years old and have worked as an Accountant for the past 20 years, My Wife, Lisa is 37 and is a Sister in Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool, specialising in anaesthetics and surgery, and has been doing this for 15 + years. We have two children Luke is 9 and Lily has just turned 5.
I am hoping to use this Forum to tap into the vast amount of knowledge, hints and tips that is on it and to ask questions as and when they pop into our heads.
I will search the site as much as possible so that i am not asking questions that have been asked 100's of times.
Many thanks for your help and assistance in advance.
Thanks Paul

Hello Paul, and welcome to BE!
Best of luck with your investigations. Good to see you've taken the sensible approach of searching the forum for answers first, but you can ask questions if you're just not finding the information you're looking for.
Are you and your family Scousers, then? I ask because I am - I emigrated to Melbourne from Liverpool in October 2015. My wife is an Australian citizen, so I moved out here to join her and start a new life.
Well, all the best for now! See you around, no doubt

Crosby's lovely. My husband's originally from Bootle. He likes telling people it was 'the select part of Bootle'. What it really was, was the group of two up/two down houses around Marsh Lane, and he and his family had to move out when the slum clearance bulldozers moved in.
He lived in Oz for 25 years but we moved back to the UK 6 months ago, we're in New Brighton on the Wirral.

I'm from Huyton originally, or as I used to describe it to strangers, "like Baghdad but with more tanks"

Spouse of Scouse,
My Wifes family lived on Knowsley road until she was around 10 years old, so we know Marsh Lane very well. We still have family living in the area.

Seriously though, I'm happy to give whatever help I can, but it's definitely best to keep your queries here in public on the forum. None of us is an absolute expert on anything, so the more people see your posts, the more likely you are to get the best help.

If not then she will find it very difficult to register as a nurse.

Grayling,
Thanks for the reply.
Were looking into this as she isn't trained at degree level, it could be a major stumbling block to us moving.
Thanks again

Re: Introduction
If she can't register then she can't work as a nurse.
New Zealand registration requirements are the same.

Re: Introduction
She's had a lot of extra training.
She is a band 6 in the UK, which is the same as what would of been Sister level.
If that would be enough to convince AHPRA, that we obviously do not know.
As mentioned in earlier posts we are at the very beginning with our process and we appreciate your post. Hopefully in the coming weeks we will know exactly were and what we can and cannot do.
Thanks again Grayling.

AHPRA are really only interested in basic qualifications as all Australian nurses are now degree trained.
If you are relying on her qualification to get a visa then everything else is pointless until this is sorted out.
If you are going for a visa on your qualification then you still need to bear in mind that she would not be able to work as a nurse without registration.
Good luck
