Hello everybody.
I've been a regular viewer of this web site for some time now and has been about 18 months since my first and only post. So I thought I’d introduce myself to your little community you've got here!!!!
I've been wanting to emigrate to Australia for so many years now. I’m completely frustrated with the state of this country and about time I done something about it!!!
I started the ball rolling with appointing an agent back in March and since then I had my skills assessed from Engineers Australia and passed with no problems, I was so relieved when that came through as I didn’t fancy writing a Competency Demonstration Report.
Now I’m currently filling in my application for General Skilled Migrants and collating all the relevant documents to be certified, so with some luck it won’t be long before I post it off to my agent to have a final look through. Then comes the waiting game which I imagine so many of you are going through!!! It must be hell!!!
Over the past 4 years of trying to convince my past two partners to emigrate with me, (with not much luck I might add) I’m emigrating on my own, with age on my side (only 27) and with no property of my own it’s a good time to go I think!! I can’t get on the property ladder over here and not prepared to pay over the odds for a pokey one bed flat.
It’s such an exciting prospect to be living over there with the aussie lifestyle, sun, beaches and people. I can’t wait!!
With me going on my own, is there anyone else in or has been a similar situation and how did they cope once they were out there??
Ed

I wouldnt hesitate to go on your own. No ties, freedom to move wherever you want to without much thought or planning. Also there is no grandchildren leaving which could cause upset with your parents.
Don’t worry about anything, go for it!!!

Hello Ed,
Congratulations on getting your TRA back. Good luck with the rest of the process. I am sure there are plenty of people going out there on their own as well as the 2 Bix has already mentioned. I am sure they will get in touch when they see this
hope it all goes well for you.

Suffice to say I dont know anybody over there, apart from those I have met on here. You will soon meet people if you get out and about and socialise, which is easier without kids!
When do you aim to go?

Well! I'm going for three weeks over xmas. But as for a permanent move it all depends if/when i get accepted. As i haven't submitted my application form yet i'm not too sure how long it will take. Hopefully by the end of next year if possible!!!
As for meeting people its like you say just get out there and hopefully it wont be too long before i loose the tag of billy-no-mates!!!
