I am just going back through this thread so that I can thank people for their help. I have just read your post and I have to say that this really did stick in my mind. I know that I talk pretty quickly anyway and am probably even worse during interviews when I'm dead nervous .
Anyway, the interview had not long since started (with my gob going 10 to the dozen as normal ) when what you said sprung to mind. I apologised for speaking so fast and began to slow down a bit. They said that everything was fine and that they could understand me. I wouldn't have given it a second thought had you not given your advice. So thanks, you can take some of the credit for my getting a job . Thank you karma on its way to you .

The questoins were quite basic to be honest and based around the selection criteria.
There were 5 main questions which you had to expand on a little. I don't think I can remember them all now but I know I was asked:
"I'm on a shift and am taking a new admission what would I need to do and what observations would I make to ensure the baby gets the appropriate care"
"I'm on shift and a peice of equipment appears not to be working properly "what would I do?"
How do the anti-discrimination laws help me in my day to day work" or something along those lines?
Something about research - what do I understand about it or what purpoes does it serve can't really remember what it was now but it wasn't anything too complex. Still couldn't answer it though cos my head was done in by then
I'll have to have a thik about what the other one was. The interviewees were lovely and really helpful anyway.
Good luck,
Tracey.

How did they cope with the North East accent?
When we were over there in the summer, I had big problems and had to constantly talk in my telephone voice. I suppose mackem is a but more gutteral than Teeside.
My wife didn't have this problem as she is from Birmingham and semi speaks the queens English, I have been practicing my posh voice (and it sounds ridiculous, like the Geordie actors you see on the telly having interviews!) in secret in preperation for moving and hopefully if I master it, I may be able to have a conversation with people.
Well done.

I have been trying to get hold of a pub that Ad4oz suggested in Hartlepool but can't get hold of them. I think the date is now going to be Sat 18th of June. The Sunday is Fathers day I have just realised and therefore the place may be packed.
Will try and catch them today.
