Interview Technique....
Hi all
I fly out to Sydney for ONE WEEK (aaarrgggh) at the end of this month to attend about 8 interviews arranged through a specialist consultancy.
Although i work in recruiment in the UK, I wondered whether there would be any tough questions around why I want to relocate to Australia/the sponsorship etc, that i can prepare for.
My fiance and I travelled around last year so think I may have the 'how do we know you are going to stick in your job' question covered as we have seen most of the country from a travellers perspetive (though appreciate there is still alot to discover)
Maybe I am just panicking, but looking through the posts, you seem like a helpful bunch, so any advice will be appreciated.
Also, any jet lag remedies......
Thanks in advance
Sally-Anne

Re: Interview Technique....
You'll probably find you are interviewed by a Brit! A large number of Recruitment Consultants in Sydney are ex-pats. The Aussies find our approach to recruitment and client/candidate management very attactive - and alot of the larger recruitment companies have British roots & connections anyway.
The key is to make the whole interview into a discussion. Be aware of the similarities and differences in recruitment between the UK and Aus. If you're looking at a specialist area, research the market, get an idea of current shortages, be aware of salary levels, benefits etc. find out who the local competition is, try to get an idea of fees and split of services (contingency v retained, database v advertised selection v search) etc, etc.
One thing you will find, the Aussies make a much bigger thing of testimonials and references (from clients as well as employers), so if possible have these in place before you go.
Good luck

I must admit it is a bit cheesy to get together a portfolio of testimonials, references etc in the UK but I did think I could take a copy along and judge whether they are the type of businesses that would be interested.
Appreciate your input.
