International driving permit question
I tried searching this one, but didnt come up with the answers I need, so hopefully somebody out there can help.
I will be coming over in July/Aug on a 457 to Victoria.
I have read that you need an international driving permit to accompany the Dutch license (as a translation) My question was, We are planning on going for PR eventually, and the International license is only valid for 1 year. Can I apply for an Oz license on a 457 ?
On Vic roads it states " If you are in Victoria on a temporary visa, you can drive on your overseas licence (provided it is a current, valid licence) for an indefinite period provided your overseas licence is in English (or you have an English translation), or you have an International Driving Permit."
It says you "can" drive on your overseas license.
BTW the Dutch license is written in Dutch, but does have pictograms showing which license categories you are eligable to drive, which are very clear IMO.
