International Baccalaureate - Frankston/Mornington region.
Hi
Does anyone know of non-fee paying schools in the Frankston to Mornington region that teach to the International Baccalaureate (IB) program? I know that Mt Eliza North does the primary programme - what do people who have kids there think to it? Does anyone know of any state schools in the region doing the middle years programme or the diploma programme?
Thanks
Neil

If you go to www.ibo.org. As you have to be a licenced school by the IBO to run the IB programs you get a full list of all the schools worldwide running the IB programs at that website. I think in SA some public schools run IB programs but in NSW all the schools are private.

We were very interested in IB schools too but it looks like we'll have to travel to Coburg North to find one doing the Middle Years Programme.
Thanks Miona for the link.

Hi
Miona- thanks. I was interested to note that Mt Eliza North was not on their list of schools teaching IB, even though they make a big thing of the fact that they do (see http://www.menps.vic.edu.au/intbacc.html).
We were always aware that IB was much more prevalent in fee paying schools. We can not afford to send our daughter to a few paying school. And frankly, we were rather surprised to learn that any state school was making claims for IB teaching whatsoever.

Yes I checked out the link you gave for Mt Eliza North Primary school and they are definately advertising it aren't they? Maybe they are in the process of being accredited? Why don't you ask the school directly or even send a message off to the IBO? You would be lucky if your local government school starts offering it. We are thinking of the IB Diploma for my daughter. She already goes to a private school but after the school got us all to a big information night they slipped in that they charge extra to do the IB instead of the HSC. A look around at other schools offering the IB Diploma has shown not all schools charge extra. Many do charge quite a few thousand dollars more but a few don't charge extra for the program but do charge you the examination fee - which is fair enough. Now we don't know what to do and are thinking of sticking to the HSC. Or moving to another school that doesn't charge extra. We already pay a lot for the private school as it is. Good luck in for your decision Wongstonn.

Out of interest what school is your daughter attending? We are sending our daughter to St Catherines in Toorak.
