I presume you mean Perth, Aus...what is gc? If so I'll move this thread into the Australia forum...you may get a better response there.

Well we live in Perth's southern suburbs and have just been on holiday to the GC and were glad to get on the plane and come 'home'.

Perth may have its faults and be a little 'boring', but it suits us.

Gold Coast is a fantastic place to live... Just avoid the centre of Surfers Paradise if you don't like the 'holiday style resort'. When I hear people not liking the Gold Coast, it usually means they rarely venture outside Surfers for their holiday (or the theme parks!)…

Surrounding suburbs such as Runaway Bay, Paradise Point, Hope Island to the north and Mermaid, Miami, Burleigh to the south are beautiful places to live. We have excellent shopping facilities, schools and transportation links. The mountain range is a stones through to the west, with an abundance of national parks to visit. If you're in to boating/water sports, GC has it all! Fishing, sailing, surfing, wake boarding... Take your pick!

The two airports close by; Coolangatta and Brisbane are both international and Virgin Blue & Jet Star offer cheap tickets all round Oz.

Don’t get me wrong I also love Perth, but as a previous post stated – it was a little too quite and we felt we needed a little more action and accessibility to surrounding cities.

Suggestions…
Visit both for a week and see how you feel! Horses for courses & all that!
Research work on www.seek.com.au for both areas
Take a look at http://www.goldcoast.qld.gov.au/
And http://www.goldcoasttourism.com.au/

All the best.

I'm in Perth mate.

Red tape here is terrible. Not sure about all the other states though.

I work with a lot of people who lived in perth then moved to the gold coast/brisbane and they say this area is so much better than perth, the main opinion was perth was too isolated. As for your husband being a tradesman, we employ tradesmen all the time and the only ones we require to see licenses for are electricians and riggers/crane drivers

thanks so much feel much happier now as you are in the industry do you know if the work situation is good for his trade as this is his main concern obviously as we have two children to support .
Are you aware of any available sponsors out there who could possibly employ him we dont want any help with paying for visas as we got that covered just help on the work front.
