Default Importing a boat

Please can some one give me some pointers on importing a boat from uk to wa oz i have owned the boat for nearly three years now,and is it worth doing or not

It probably depends on the type of boat/size etc?

Hi thanks for the reply its roughly the same as most of the small fishing boats people are using here in Perth.

Your best to start with ascertaining the cost of shipment. Generally the cost of boats are cheaper here. You may wish to also consider the resale value in both UK and Australia in your decision

They pick you up at the port when you get here, friends sailed a boat here from Europe over a few years and had to pay duty to keep it here.

do you mean a tinny? how many feet long? I imported a sailing yacht which is worth quite a lot more over in Australia than in Europe but I did have to pay import tax and gst after a 3 year leeway period.

Na not a tinny man she's about 16 feet long similar to the tippa-roo with two out board engines

What is it made from?....it it is alloy then it is still a tinny

TE did you sail from UK/Europe? and if so which route did you choose?

Sorry I had automatically assumed your answer was panama, and got distracted fending 2 fighting kids.

How did you feel about pirates using that route?

Is it on a trailer, you will pay approx $10k plus port fees, GST and taxes, custom clearances.

Whats the value of it?
