Impatience
We have had our visas for 2 months now and the impatience is beginning to get to me!! The weather isn't helping, the last 4 days have been pretty awful. Our house has been on the market 2 weeks and we have only had 1 viewing which is really p*****g me off. The estate agents are living up to all expectations ( unfortunately)
I am feeling bored, bored and can't wait to leave. It is really getting to me at the moment. When you decide that you want to start a new life you want it to start quickly. We can't leave any earlier due to work and family commitments, but I don't know how I am going to get through another 5 months of this!! Thanks, I have got that off of my chest now. I just wish we could close our eyes and appear in Brisbane. Now that would be nice. Does anyone else feel the same, or am I just an impatient old bag? Tina:( :( |

Anyway time for our Sunday jaunt down the White Horse. A few beers, couple of G&t's and the odd Scotch thrown in for good measure. I hope I can find a good local in Aus.

Certainly not an old bag Tina, don't worry! Its a horrible feeling isn't it, like being in suspended animation - theres so much that has to be done but you can't actually get on with any of it yet!
Not much you can do - I'm trying to make the most of the things I'll miss from over here (like friends and family and favourite places). I'm also making a list of stuff that'll need sorting as soon as I get to OZ - tax numbers, medicare and all that kind of thing, so that when I get there I have an organised list of numbers to work through! Right now though, closing my eyes and opening them in Brisbane sounds idyllic........ |
Re: Impatience
Hi Tina
you are certainly not alone in this. We have had ours on the market for 4 months. Nearly 50 viewings, and no offers, despite the place being in immaculate condition whenever anyone comes round. It's had me pulling my hair out in chunks. The only upside to this is that after months of saving we are now in a position to rent the house out and go without selling it. Looks like this is what we might do. we wont' be able to buy over there straight away, but at least we'll be there! Good luck. I wont say don't get too frustrated over it, because i know it's impossible. Andy Originally posted by tinaj We have had our visas for 2 months now and the impatience is beginning to get to me!! Thanks for all of your encouragement, at least I know I am not the only one.
I hope we all get our buyers soon. Tina x |
Hi Tina,
I can fully understand where you're coming from. We have had our visa's for New Zealand for 6 weeks now. Unfortunately our house has been on the market for three months, we've had only six viewings and no offers, despite reducing the price by £15,000!! It's becoming an anti climax having our visa's because until the house sells we are in no position to emigrate and we can't wait to go. Ah well patience was never my best quality. Good luck with the house sale. Helen |

In the same boat as you. Got the visas in May, put house on the market, sold it. 3 weeks, they pulled out. Back on the market another 5 weeks. Only 2 viewings.
Every time the phone rings, we both run shouting 'I'll get it, I'll get it', in anticipation of the Estate agent ringing to let us know that maybe someone wants to come out and have a look around the house. You should see our faces when it isn't the Estate agent. 'Oh its you'. Hubby and I have now taken to sighing every couple of minutes. We had some friends over for the weekend, which has made it a bit better than usual. As you say, it is so frustrating waiting with your life on hold when you have so many plans. Whisky |
Hi Tina,
Sorry to hear you are feeling low, i guess it is the emotional rollercoaster everyone goes on about. We are putting our flat on the market this week but are not in a rush as we will be moving in with the mother in law until we fly out in Feb. The market up here is pretty good things going in 4 weeks. Good luck to everyone trying to sell and we shall all have a drink in Brissy togehter and laugh at ourselves next year. Carrianne xx |

Originally posted by chippy You may or may not be an old bag I could'nt say :) Regarding the impatience I can assure you, you are not alone. At least you are clutching tightly onto your visa. I want to get to Brissy too but still have'nt got the the PR, although I think I'm close. This waiting game just is'nt my style and I'm getting sick of it. These are indeed anxious times for us, all being well visa's should arrive any day now, but because this isn't is certain, my wife will not exchange contracts until we have visa's in our hands. We had a survey on the house last week and are expecting them to ask us to exchange any day soon. :scared: :scared: :scared: If it were up to me alone, and given the present state of the housing market I would exchange anyway. Hi all,
This bit is definitely the worst ..got the visa and now waiting to go...BUT.... cant book flights..or wont...until exchanged contracts cant book dog's flight till we know when we're going! can't let our friends in sydney know when we're arriving cos cant book flights ...so she cant request days off for when we're there cos we dont know when we're gonna be there!!! cant book temp accom in perth cos we dont know when we will arrive there cos we're staying in sydney for 2 weeks and we dont know when that'll be!!!!!!! ARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Kids are wittering...and absolutely everyone i know when i see them says...'when are you going...how's the house sale....etc etc.... i keep dreaming that we're there and i hate it.... we want to have a leaving do too and havent even booked that yet!!!!!.....might not bother..  well all i can say is that i hope my liver holds out     phew that feels better..... yes tina i feel the same and our house sale malarky has been going on since end of feb!!!!!!!!! |
Re: Impatience
Hi Tina
Hang in there. You really do need to be patient. If I were you I would spend all my spare time planning / packing rather than getting stressed. You will get there - everydone does - its just a case of time. Good luck Terry |

Slater Just knew it, no visa yet, but to-day we received a letter from the solicitor asking us for an urgent exchange and completion date! We had previously agreed with our purchasers that we would complete in October when we expect to walk out and get on the plane to Oz. Dilemma is, without the visas what should we do? Slater |
Slater
Its got to make life less stressful after your visas come if the house is all sorted out, you know you are going your not about to back out and say no i dont think we'll go, imagine having your visa in your sweaty palm and cant sell the house for 6 months. My advise GO FOR IT. You have to take some chances in this process and if your sure your visa is a definate then you are only taking a very small chance! Lynn |

Myself and missus pom took the little whingers to Brisbane in April, it was superb, I loved it and so did the rest of them. I tried to get a second job so we could go back for new years, but that only lasted two weeks. How do you cope when you just want to be somewhere else. We have only just got our case number so we have at least a year to go, my nieghbour has just put his house on the market, he has a job offer in N.Z and it looks like he will be out there before winter. You are a lot closer to getting there than we are and if you have been through all the emotions that I am at the moment and will be facing in the coming year, then you can hang on a bit longer. Good luck. |
Thanks for all of your replies, they have really cheered me up.
I am thankful that we got our visas through quickly. I just hope we get a bit of activity from our estate agents soon. Of course he has told us that he has a buyer that he is sure will buy our house, but they are on holiday at the moment.. How many lies can you believe? I just want to flog the house and move into rented ASAP, at least then we know that nothing can happen to stop us leaving when we plan to. Part of the problem is that I am a bit of a planning addict. I like to plan things way in advance so that I can get the best deals etc on flights & accomodation. I will just have to wait a bit longer and take what is left- at least we know (hope!) that we will be leaving by the end of the year. Must go now I have got to clean the house ... |
AAAAAAARRRggggghhhhh - Get me out of here......
Our Visa's are already stamped, and we have an offer on the house, hopefully the survey will be done this week then it's off as soon as possible. I think the frustrating thing is in those times when you know you want to get moving and arrange everything but dont have any dates to work to, so you're stuck twiddling your sticky out bits. The stress of having things to arrange and having a deadline to work to is positive in it's own way as at least time seems to be moving on. Hopefully we should have a date to work to in the next 10 days, but boy, are those days till we exchange contracts and settle a date going to drag. If you have no luck with your estate agent after a few more weeks, then do what we did and change them for another. It might make the difference. For Slater, if you have an offer on the house, then sell it now as buyers may not be around when you need them. Live in a tent for a while if you have to, just get yourself over there asap. Good luck to all out there, Bluey Adelaide by October..........please.. |
