immigrate for a new life
Well some do indeed just do that , off with the old on with the new.
The bureau estimates that at the marriage and divorce rates of the late 1990s, 32 per cent or almost one in three Australian marriages will end in divorce, up from 28 per cent in the mid-'80s.
It also estimates that on the same basis, 23 per cent of today's young women and 29 per cent of men will never get married. Many of them may have children outside marriage, but social research suggests de facto couples with children are even more likely to break up.
The figures also suggest migrants may be hastening these trends. Last year 77 per cent of all first marriages involved Australian-born couples, whereas 34 per cent of all second and subsequent marriages involved at least one overseas-born partner, above their share of the population.
Strikingly, the bureau also reports only 58 per cent of divorces last year involved two Australian-born partners. Last year 29 per cent of all divorces were between couples from different countries, while 13 per cent involved two migrants from the same country.

Some of these figures are explained by the fact that a lot of ozzie sheilas see the English blokes turn up at the airport and trade in their ozzie husbands for a bit of class. No surprise. On the repeat of the biggest day of their life, they don't want someone in a double-breasted string vest do they?

Now be fair any Pom girl would love an Aussie guy in a double-breasted string vest with tinnie in hand plus a Ute.
Satd'y Arvo puts the you in the most powerful position in the Australian living room. You sit in the armchair of the beer drinking, channel flicking, philosophical Aussie male. You control the television which the Aussie male is obsessed with. Images, sounds and text continually load and appear/are heard at the viewer's/user's discretion. The traditional Aussie male sits comfortably with the common notion of Australian lifestyle. The Aussie male, however is contrasted with the images appearing on his television screen which give a diverse and modern account of what it is to be Australian, outside the confines of the suburban house. Jonesy, in his mid 20's, married and paying off his family house, is settled in his favourite chair, armed with a beer. He is awaiting the Satd'y arvo live telecast of the golf to fill the screen of his rented television but to his horror the rain has set in at the golf course and the game has been postponed until further notice. Jonesy grunts and spits his disapproval and waits to see what the stand by program will be. To his disappointment it is a repeat episode of, 'Jack the Crocodile Wrestler.' And so the channel flicking begins in earnest as boredom and frustration sets in.
Each new channel presents images which are beyond Jonesy's limited scope of Australian culture, which he so kindly comments on, sharing his opinions with the viewer/user. The extremes of youth culture fill his television screen; from pub gigs to raves, apathy to activism. Jonesy's opinionated ignorance turns to frustration as he is confronted by these new aspects of Australian culture. This confrontation culminates in Jonesy's act of self mutilation...his weapon the trusty beer can.

Brits, and what's worstest, bleedin' Poms, still banging on about "a bit of class"? Just to remind you, in Brit speak "class" is something you are, not something you have, unless, of course, you have none.

You are not qualified to say, with your egalitarian society where the very rich and the very poor do not exist and all live in harmony whatever their colour or school. You think Martin Luther King would see Oz as the land of his dream? If you see him posting from the other side here (not USA) then what is his handle?
