8 weeks for kids is not long enough though, kids at their age are not the kind to walk up to each other and say 'Can I be your friend' - it takes time.
Well said - It has taken Turtletom almost 2 years and he went back for a 5 month period too :scared: He is going back again for a short 2 month break soon.
You ask him how long it took for him to feel more 'settled' - it can take anything up to 2/3 years - generally kids at the age of 13 - 16 take anything from 10 weeks to 18 months IMO
that said - good luck Julie on your journey - and maybe in a while you may want to try again. Maybe find a job for hubby before you come out??

Hi Julie,
We have just started using this site so I don't know your whole story.
We've done the same as you but from Auckland, so we know what your going through. Daft thing is we lasted 10 days in the UK before quickly coming back to NZ. Our next step is Oz in January.
All you can do is put it down to being one of life's adventures, at least when your retired you'll not wonder "what if"
Safe flight to you and yours.
Ian

jules, all i can say is..... i know your are doing what u think is best for your family. its better to fix something before its beyond repair. if one of the kids settles and the others dont. well your life could be hell.
after that u owe me a beer on friday
as for anyone else who does think that its not long enough for kids, well only a mother could know what right for them, or at least have a good guess lol

Oh, and just for the record I was expecting you to keep up the barrage of abuse, not fold so quickly. You're just no fun anymore
