Thanks everyone for the messages of support and advice etc. What happened was that I tried to change my password using the old username. I had to enter the old password and then the new password. It didn't recognise my old password when I attempted to do this - because the GB had changed it before me.

Next, I therefore had to change my username. It would accept the same one but with a change of capitalisation or by adding a number on the end - said it was already in use whatever I did. So I changed the username as you know to OzTennis.

Next, when I entered my email address it said you couldn't have that it was already taken (by GB TennisOz). I immediately thought crikeys I won't be able to get into my email inbox if the GB has got into that and changed the password. However, I managed to change the password (which wasn't the same as my British Expats) and secure that.

Next, to re-register under the OzTennis username I had to give a different email address. Fortunately I have more than one and so gave a second one.

So there we are - the artist formerly known as Prince is now OzTennis with a password no-one will crack (hope I can remember it ).

I haven't had a chance to read all the posts on my thread but will get around to it and reply to everyone.

Thanks again folks.

Finally, to GB - have a read of this, Paul Kelly says things much better than me:-

Yeah, as I said elsewhere Jon, naively I didn't think this would be a problem in this forum. After all, if you can't trust Brits, Aussies, NZ'ers and SA'ers who can you trust I hadn't really thought about it before but it does throw up the importance of security and passwords and perhaps the need to change the latter at regular intervals. I hadn't even thought of 'password cracker' programs until someone else mentioned it in this thread.

I have taken my own advice to others and put in a long password with a mixture of alpha and numeric characters.

okay, you've got me too curious now!

as much as I don't want to give this person the satisfaction, could someone just give me a general idea of what this idiot was saying? Obviously don't repeat the details, but this is worse than the Prince Charles thing!

anti-gay rubbish I presume?
Spot on Jon. Homophobic, vitriolic c**p posted in my name by some narrow-minded gutless character. Not worth repeating. I am in the supposed 83% of Aussies but I have got nothing against (literally ) the supposed 17%. Each to their own I say.

Hmm. Now, i think we need to check that it really is you, and not an imposter.

The question below, must be answered in full. If not, i don't believe its you :P

Describe every headband worn by Pat Cash between 1981 and 1997. EVERY ONE.

Good one Pete. Well the first one had a black square and then a white square and then a black square and then a white square .......

Just so you know it's me - Pat played his tennis at Grace Park, Hawthorn, Melbourne; won the Victorian singles championships at age 16; supports Hawthorn Hawks Aussie Rules FC (hence the brown/gold jumper he often wore on court; was coached by Ian Barclay (who I played against); his father was an accountant .....

Now you believe me don't you?

you are a very sad individual, i am glad you have no children because with your views i am pretty sure they would be unbalanced.

your views are not wanted here and you would do well to sign off and leave the forum.

The matter has been reported to the moderator and the offending thread was removed. As you'll also know I've changed my username (and password) so it can't happen again to me.

Presumably as others have said the moderator will be able to trace the errant posts in my name to an internet address which can then be matched against other posts so the offender can be identified (and hopefully blocked from posting).

I have discovered (from WBB) that he/she even posted PM's in my name and that I had been 'hacked' for up to a week without me knowing. I haven't checked all threads for bogus posts in my name so apologies to anyone who may have been offended by them.

Didnt know what was happening yesterday till wwb told me about an imposter type of thing going on.

Im not too brainy with computers but should we /can we change our passwords or something to protect our selves from this happening again. I quite often just skim through a few posts and wouldnt see if someone had used my id for a false thread or post.

cheers
