Default I want to move to australia ¿what must I do?

Hi everyone.

I am a 32 years old Venezuelan (that is in South America) hold a five years enginnering degree and a two years Master in Bussines Administration, I am married and have a child my wife is also venezuelan and she is a teacher. I want to migrate to Australia but I do not have even a clue about the migration process.

¿Can somebody give me a litle explanation about it? ¿Do someone know a good web page with information on this subjet?

¿how long is usually the process of getting a inmigrant visa?

¿how expensive is to live in australia (in american dollars)?

thanks for you advise.

The official site of the Australian Immigration Department is here: http://www.immi.gov.au/

I suspect that you'll find it a bit of an information overload at first, so you should take some time to click around, and read through the relevant sections of the site.

You may wish to look at this site too:

It depends on what category you're applying under. Most immigrants fall into the Skilled Independent category, that is to say that these people are not sponsored by any relative in Australia, are not recent Australian university graduates and are skilled. For this category, the estimated processing time is 50 weeks, for the immigration application itself.

Briefly, the process flow for a Skilled Independent application can be summarized as follows:

1) Pre-Application Skills Assessment (PASA). You apply to a skills assessing authority relevant to your qualification and/or experience. This normally will take anywhere from 1 month to 3 months. There is a fee associated with this assessment, which may range from A$100 to A$800.

2) The application to the Dept of Immigration. This costs A$1,745 for a skilled-independent visa. You will need a successful PASA result before you can proceed to apply to the Dept of Immigration. The processing time for this stage is, as mentioned, estimated at 50 weeks.

Hope this helps.

If your native language is not English, you will also have to take an
English Assessment exam and pay for that as well. If your wife does
not speak English, you will have to pay about $2500 AUD in order to
take her to Australia with you.

This A$2485 pays for English language lessons (about 500 hours) in
Australia.

As learning English is absolutely critical for settling in Australia,
it should not be seen as wasted money.
