I Love the Gold Coast

I am a sad git and thought I'd have a dig through old threads and nope, there's no mention from me about Robina being full of Brits so bad luck there. I was more commentating on the fact that you felt the need to have a go at Shiels for saying it was full of poms when she actually said 'Some areas can be I think, very popular with poms'.

We're in Southport at Northern end - has everything you need for a small CBD and good access to beaches with reasonable access if you need to get to Brisbane. This area is often overlooked on Expats - alot of Brits head for Pac Pines area, but I would recommend Ashmore and Benowa. Also Ilike Currumbin too. It's really a personal preference thing.
Hi we are looking to move to somewhere near southport or southport. do you know if there are a lot of carpentry jobs?

Don't want to get into an argument, however we hear South African accents every single weekend when shopping at Robina centre. We have 8 South african families we know living in Robina. Our next door neighbour is from Manchester, and 2 other families in our road are from the UK, and 1 from New Zealand. Anyway, whatever the stats, we love it here.

People that don't even live in QLd have got their sticky beaks in it too

We must shop at different places then because i never hear SA's, however, why is everyone getting involved in who lives in Robina, who cares if there SA's Europeans, etc, etc? in some cases they are much better than aussie ferals...

Nice to know that the bitchiness has not stopped on here! Most people come on to use this site for information and support, not to read petty arguments between people that obviously have far too much time on their hands. Go have a drink and chill out!

Santuary Cove is so ghastly that it is brilliant to visit. I think it has sinister undertones with all the golf buggies and security men everywhere, not quite real life.
Reminds me of the the old TV series The Prisoner.
had some nice times at the village theatre though.

Paula, there are carpenters jobs that come up and get filled all of the time, the building industry here is similar to the UK. You get your foot in the door with a company and prove how good you are and build a reputation for yourself. The only way to get a job is to be here.
I currently have 7 carpenters fitting out a couple of shops for me and am starting a huge job next month that will require loads of guys.
Its a case of right place at the right time.
Most house here are timber framed so loads of carpentry jobs there however there is a downturn in new houses at the moment so a bit quieter there than normal.
Have you done a reccie for yourself here and had a good look about...?
