Believe me..the excitement will wear of in about 10 seconds when you are sooo damn cold you cant walk for tembling!!

You remind of my daughter when she was your age...such a sweet little thing ...

I have never, ever experienced weather under -2 degrees. So minus 30 would be so exciting! Think of all the snowmen and snowballs i could make!!!
honestly the novelty will wear off after about half an hour. snow is great when its jsut fallen but when it goes all slushy and brown it really does become a pain.

Yes, Mr Bundy (an aussie) thought he loved the cold over here in the UK until he managed to get hypothermia one day playing rugby.

I don't know where I want to go, preferably somewhere close to my relatives. I haven't seen most of them since I was 5 :(
But you also have to think of all the snowballs that will get thrown at you. Sometimes, nasty boys make ice balls and those friggen hurt. Or they put snow down your top and that hurts too (it's the nip thing again).

Toronto doesn't get that much snow - not like it did when I was knee high to a grasshoper - but there is a lot in Ottawa which is also a rather nice city. I haven't been to too many places in Canada (a few towns in Northern Ontario, Ottawa, Montreal and a small town in rural Quebec) but Toronto is nice - spesh in the summer. Northern Ontario is kinda nice and pretty and has lots of outdoor space to do outdoor things.

It would be nice for you to see your rellies tho. I hope you make it out there!

:(:( How can you guys say that? To me, snow seems like one of the most thrilling things ever!! Smowmen! Snow angels!! Snowballs!! Etc!! That's exciting stuff! And it's got to be better than melting in 40 degree heat!!

I'm a bit worried though. I'm horribly unco-ordinated, so I don't know if I will be able to ski or snowboard (I know for sure that I can't iceskate :D)

You know podgypossum, you're not the first person to say I remind someone of their daughter. I was at work today amd I was talking about my plans after uni with a collegue and he said I reminded him exactly of his daughter because we were both so excited and had such big (enormous) plans :D

You are so depressing!!! :( :D

I'm definitely going after I graduate. I have citizenship there, so there won't be too much hassle thankfully!!

for most here though have never had a long summer of 40 degrees and for most that seems appealing (hence why would so many want to emmigrate to oz). i guess its what you are used to. your post hints at the fact that 40 degrees aint great all the time. swings and roundabouts isnt it?

Since when is 40 degrees ever good?? :D

I'd rather 40 degrees than 4 degrees (and yes, I've experienced both)

  You can't be serious!!

Dood, 4 > 40 any day!!

Just like to comment on the snow and cold

Can totally understand accidentals view!

We went back to Holland when I was 14, so I'd never really had snow.
I still love it! (after 7 years) (Did you know, here some people didn't even know what snow angels were! Not that it's that great! You get cold and wet! lol!)
Though the slushy stuff is annoying, and you have to get up a bit earlier cos you have to drive a bit slower.
And I guess it doesn't snow to often, so that keeps it fun. If it was all the time, it would get annoying.

But I don't like the cold. Luckily it never gets really cold mostly only up to about -5. (which is bad enough)
But our first winter back it was -18 new years eve! That is not good! (just like +40!)
So, you wouldn't want -30! Arghhhhh!

asciidental Jan 14th 2004 1:48 am

The problem is, I get rather cold in temperatures under 20 degrees, so I would die if I was playing around in snow!! :( :D

I just can't stand being cold and cope with the heat much better. I spent a year as a camp-oven cook in Oz - several months of 30 to 40 degree heat (up to 45 degrees) and I was spending 10 hours a day standing over a blazing fire. Temp inside the kitchen was well over 50 degrees. And I'd still rather that than the damp cold we get here in the UK.

Oh well, like Fuzzyness said, swings and roundabouts re overly cold/overly hot. Like bundy I also don't fare well in the cold. Not quite sure how I'm going to go on with 40+ weather but oh well...it will be an adventure.

Snow angels are kinda cool......but what I always wanted to do was be a boy and write my name in the snow with my wee.
