Ah, good to know others have been where we are. Just about dead from waitingitis. Any tips to get past the point of checking the computer every morning? Can imagine just breezing past the computer pretending I'm not interested to see what emails have come!!!

Re: i hate waiting
Hi
My partner is English, but I am from Brisbane (born & raised there for 24 years!)
So, here's my take on the best Brisbane suburbs:
1. For lifestyle
New Farm (near New Farm Park end for cafes/park; or near The Valley end for clubs/funky places)
Paddington (nice shops, nice cafes, great Queenslander homes)
Hawthorne (near river - Oxford Street end)
West End (bit more alternative than rest, but is much more mainstream these days)
Ascot/Clayfield - some real old money, but I find them a bit stuck up!! - nice cafes on Racecourse Road tho
2. For the view
New Farm - along "Brisbane's most liveable Street" (near Merthyr Road - parallel to the river) - views of river and Storey Bridge)
Kangaroo Point (on top of the "cliffs" - overlooks city - direct view - and from some stretches, the Storey Bridge)
3. Child-friendly
Albany Creek (I grew up there - out of the city (about 15km from city) but lots of good schools & big houses for lots of kids!)
Ashgrove (although some nice big Queenslander homes, because it's close to the city - approx 3km - it's very expensive)
The Gap
4. Commutable to city
New Farm (walk/ferry)
Toowong (ferry)
Holland Park (bus lanes on motorway, well "freeway")
5. Easy to reach beach on weekends
Close to Sunshine Coast, but still in Brissie - Aspley, Albany Creek; further up is Deception Bay and Redcliffe.
Close to Gold Coast - anywhere on the south side, close to "South East Freeway" and then straight down to the Gold Coast - eg Sunnybank; Tanah Merah (further out)
Hope this helps!! Brisbane is great - very hot, but only ever 30-60 minutes to a beach, and the people are really friendly compared to bigger capital cities like Sydney & Melbourne. Hope you get there! We are waiting in limbo land too, and yes, we hate it just as much. Soul destroying at times, which is why I like writing things like this that remind me of Oz again :-)
Good Luck!
Kat

Re: i hate waiting
Hi,
As someone who has shippers coming on Monday & house sale pending for 20th, I'd say get all the crappy stuff done now
We're only just going through papers, like pensions.SERPS,& all the nitty gritty stuff that you think you will do "nearer the time" but then you realise, theres not so much time left :scared:
My mum said the other day it's a bit like being pregnant, you think 9 months is loads of time to get organised, but you still end up doing tons of things right on the last minute.
If I were you, I'd use this time to "clear the decks" dump everything that has no use & start thinking long term, what will you be shipping, what can you sell etc.. DO IT ALL NOW ! Honestly, I can't believe what we need to do in the next 2 weeks, & I used to think I was quite organised- how wrong I was
Anyway good luck with your application & get cracking on the things that you can do now, the rest will come in it's own time.

Yep - used to go to school about 3 train stations from there.
Good family area. Good links to the city (train) and close to shopping centre (Brookside). Ferny Grove itself was "new" (ie, new housing estates etc) in about the late 80s, so houses not all new, but still well maintained last time I was there. I know some new developments went up just a couple of years ago, but I think they are just outside Ferny Grover - in a place called Kings something ?? Was an old drive-in - redeveloped with big family brick homes.
Not sure of your lifestyle - I'd say Ferny Grove suits families, BBQs, Drive-thru "bottle-o's" (off licence that you drive through in your car). Hehehe. Oh, and backyard pools Your thing?
