I had a TFN when I was in Aus on a WHV in 92/93. Would I have to use the same number when we emigrate or would I be given a new one given the diferent visa status/length of time since last use.

I don't have a scooby what my old TFN is, would Centrelink be able to find it it it's still needed?

yes, your TFN will be the same as the one you had previously. If you give the ATO a call, they should be able to tell you what the number was. 0061 2 6216 1111 - they will call you straight back if you tell them you are overseas.
