I got flashed by a police Vito van BUT from the front

I've witnessed exactly this, two coppers in tandem; one to stop the 'offending' vehicle, the other just writing out tickets for his colleague to complete with vehicle details etc. Couldn't write them quick enough. They'd pulled a car over in front of me, let me pass, then pulled over the car behind. Unbefrigginlievable.

Yesterday passed a camera van on Zillmere Rd, Zillmere, parked opposite a stop sign - guess what, double whammy.
BTW, if you have a query about the use of stop signs, you should approach either the relevent state transport and/or police department.

Indeed they are. I don't really take issue with them being parked on a verge, or even hiding, but I still think it's really dangerous to go flashing photographic flashes at oncoming motorists, particularly at night when it may take your night vision a bit of time to recover.
Forward facing speed cameras should be IR, not light on the visible spectrum.

The other day I approached a speed camera van on the side of the Sunshine Motorway near Mooloolaba. Thankfully I was not speeding but as I passed I happened to notice he had his sign "speed camera in use" positioned 2 feet in front of his van, i.e. after you had gone passed. I thought to myself then that was a bit cheeky.

Therefore according to the guidelines, the sign was correctly positioned.

stick to the posted speed limit and adhere to the rules of the road.
Then the nasty police/government cannot take any of your
hard earned cash

Whilst I do not doubt the level of income earned from speeding fines and how corrupt it may seem, has everyone forgotten the death toll on the roads heres - Enough is enough, I think the police are sickened every time they attend a fatal car crash.
The answer to no fines = don't speed, if you do take the punishment.
If any of our loved ones had been killed in a speeding related accident then we may have a very different opinion.

Totally agree. However, fining someone for taking their time in slowing from 90 to 70 prior to a roundabout NOT known for accidents is a different kettle of fish.

I was listening to the radio last week, and an Qld University academic professor was about to present a study to the Qld gov't, recommending that the speed on sealed highways be reduced to 90kph
outside metroplitian areas, and unsealed roads to be reduced to 80kph, to reduce the number of crashes. What next from the brains trust, have a bloke walk in front of the vehicle waving a red flag?

But they were still alledgely still speeding, therefore breaking the law.

I was doing about 75kph in a 60kph zone yesterday afternoon (and the annoying thing is that I hardly ever speed in the car) and I was approaching a Mercedes Vito van (hadn't noticed it at this point) and a flash unit (or at least I think it flashed) went off in the front grill. I'm assuming that I've been snapped by the QLD police but the thing that is confusing me is that the Vito vans are supposed to be setup to ONLY take pictures through the rear window of the van and NOT the front?
Has anyone else been snapped by a Vito van from the front of the van and not the back?
Has anyone else been snapped by a Vito van from the front of the van and not the back?
I ride and drive at the limit everywhere since this happened (those Vito vans are evil and to me it feels as if they are omnipotent) so hopefully no more speeding fines (I was only doing 71kph in the first place because I was yapping with my wife and doing what I 'thought' was the right speed).

speaking of which there was a police officer in sydney this morning hiding nicely behind a lot of cars on the top of the hill with his radar gun just after the start of the school zone at 9am, I was not speeding to be honest but with cops hidden its impossible to keep check on your speed all the time, I have points already for minor speed offences a few ks over the speed limit i cant afford any more, rta and tra are the letters of the alphabet i hate most, I pray my luck turns around its been a testing year so far, your good vibes would be appriciated

I think that in NSW police manned speed traps have to stop you in person at the moment that they detect the offence - I don't think they can zap you and then just send a letter in the post. I may be wrong, and would welcome correcting if this is the case.
Often on a Saturday evening in Newtown they have a speed factory - they place a remote sensor about half way down king street, and then have a dozen cops pulling people and issuing tickets next to the station about 1/4 of a mile further down. It's just as well there's no real crime happening

I find in Sydney there just aren't enough repeated speed signs. It's very easy to miss one that is obscured by trees or other traffic, and then find you have been doing the wrong speed for miles until the repeat sign comes again. Though, I do like the fact that they often (but not always) paint the new speed on the road itself to help not missing it.
