From: Melbourne, by the beach, living the dream.

I left my work in Melbourne CBD at my usual time of 3.30pm (start at 7.30am). I drove for 1/2 hour along the beach road with sea views all the way, and met my family at a beachside cafe where we had cream teas. Then we played in the rock pools on the beach and swam for a bit, then the kids built sandcastles.
I was home by 5.30pm, in time for a relaxed dinner with wine in the garden.
In London I wasn't home until 6pm following a 1 hour tube journey and there was certainly no cream tea or beach.
Life's good.
I hope this post inspires someone still in the UK.

*jealous*!!
I was thinking just yesterday as the District Line tube got delayed yet again and my train home was diverted (so it took me more than my usual 80 minutes to get home) that it can't possibly be any worse in Australia. If only my commute is better then that'll do for me! Anything else will be a bonus!
Glad you're enjoying yourself, long may it continue!

I didnt get home till 5.30pm (late) after a full 3km drive home.
Watered the hanging baskets & veggies in the garden, had tea with the family all together at the same table, Chatted with the kids about their first day back at school today, and am now sat enjoying a stubby relaxing and NOT thinking or worrying about work tomorrow.
I just wish the bloody crickets & frogs would shut up, i'm trying to concentrate
I might have to close the door in a minute. As Maccas say : Just lovin it !

We live the same life and everyday I compare my kids' lifestyle to everyday in Scotland, and know we made the right decision.

Left home this morning for the usually 12 min ride to work in light rain. Parked in the street so close to work that it could have been at the front door.
Lunchtime walk along the Esplanade to check out the marina. It's a looong walk around the lagoon to get to the marina.
There are a lot of migratory birds down there at the moment.
Afternon ride home along the Esplanade and 15 mins home before the next rain shower passes through.
Cairns in the wet season is all good.
Roll on winter!!

Don't need others to inspire me, and don't have many things to moan about in UK, yes is wet and cold at the moment, but far worse places to live. Can't get on the housing ladder, but will be the same in Aus. Surely everyone can't want to move to Aus to be home early from work
Takes me 18 minutes to get home from work and work shifts so don't have regular time home, earn far more in UK than could in Aus in current work line. But want a change and most of family if not already in Aus heading that way over the coming years.Hope your thread does inspire others, personally found going to see exactly what's there for you and doing lots of research to let you know what you're letting yourself in for work vefry well for me

Mine include never having to wear a jacket or, heaven forbid, tights, and being able to sit by the sea or river at 2 in the morning in few clothes, drink in hand, talking rubbish with mates.

. we have already said how lovely it will be to meet him after work and go to the beach for a picnic rather than him just seeing the kids on a Sunday afternoon when he's tired and grouchy! It certainly brought a smile to my face
