Default Howard Downplays Terrorism Risks

Now call me crazy, but how does Australia's involvement in Iraq not lead to increased risk of terrorism in Australia?? Is it time to get our fridge magnets ready again??

PRIME Minister John Howard has downplayed terrorist risks to Australia in the wake of Spain's train bombings.

Mr Howard said yesterday there was no direct link between last week's attack in Madrid, in which 201 people died, and Australia.

And he dismissed comments by Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty and NSW police chief Ken Moroney suggesting Australia was at greater risk from terrorism because of its role in Iraq. Mr Keelty also predicted an attack against Australia was inevitable.

Since people will not even place their 'fridge magnets in a prominent place what can he do in full glare of the public's gaze except make soothing sounds?

One of the most important attributes of a politician is to be able to LIE with a straight face and Howard is def a master at that.
