Howard downplays Al-Qaeda risk 16mar04 PRIME Minister John Howard has downplayed terrorist risks to Australia in the wake of Spain's train bombings. Mr Howard said yesterday there was no direct link between last week's attack in Madrid, in which 201 people died, and Australia. And he dismissed comments by Australian Federal Police Commissioner Mick Keelty and NSW police chief Ken Moroney suggesting Australia was at greater risk from terrorism because of its role in Iraq. Mr Keelty also predicted an attack against Australia was inevitable. |
