Thanks Vikki,

I'm getting a bit nervous now, we have already had one minor set back as my wife was over qualified for the role our agent nominated her for! The upshot of that was it cost us $100000 for 5 points!!!

Ive Just had medicals last week. Apart from the fact they cost a fortune, Id say they were not very strict at all. Im a nurse and so have watched many a Doctor examine a patient to detect their state of health. We saw our Meds Doc in a very posh private clinic and he matter of factly and routinely checked us over very quickly. They must make a bomb out of these meds £90 for blood tests!!! And I could have had them done free at work! My advice is to just be upfront and tell the doc everything. Good luck!

Diane.

the meds apparantly are not as bad as what people think they are.

we have some friends who have had theirs and they say they are quite steady, not alot too worry about.

i had my BP checked the other day at work and all was normal, to which i was amazed.lol.

i ahve also stopped biting my nails which means i must be in a very nice place at the moment

just gotta lose some more weight and we will be sorted lol

This also hapend to me i wanted to be assesed as a chef for all the points that i needed.as a head chef i would lose 15 points as it is not in demand.and a chef would gain 15 points more as this is in demand.anyways when the TRA came back i did pass but they looked at my references and could see that i have been a head chef for 9 years,so they assesed me as a head chef because i had to much experiance for a chef ,so i lost 15 points . we had to ask them to re asses as a chef as i was not going to be a head chef in australia. this all came back good, and did get the points.but what a pain
all the best

We had ours Friday before last here in Sydney... Was so quick I couldn't believe it... Straight in and pay your money ($482), then weight and height measurement, 5 minute wait then X-Ray - which cannot have taken more than 3 minutes, 10 minute wait to see the doctor together, 5 minutes of general chat, blood pressure test, quick check of movement on my knee (had cartilage removed) out with the stetho thingy and thanks very much, we'll be in touch...

They did forget the blood test (mix up really) so we had to go back the next Tuesday for that ($110 more for two). Then got a call on Thursday saying everything's done and our CO would be able to view results that afternoon... Monday got confirmation from CO that Visa ready to be issued and please get out of the country... How easy was that...!

Hi

They are not very strict at all

BUT - I'd be totally upfront and honest about any existing medical conditions if I were you. People with a lot worse than you get visas but apparantly they can revoke your visa if you are found to have lied on the forms. I had something to be mentioned but the Doc said it was fine.

I would agree. The actual medical is almost a joke. They do, however follow-up anything you write on the form. My wife had an in-situ (level 1) melanoma removed 4 years ago but we were still referred to a consultant dermatologist for his report. My BP was also high so I have had to have another round of blood and urine tests. We were checked here in Oz. Maybe it is easier in the UK.

I would advise anyone with a pre-existing condtion to make sure they go to the medical armed with as much information from their doctor/consultant as possible.

Hello Little Stinker??
Medicals are not a problem at all...they just make sure your not half dead, riddled with cancer, drug addict, all the main and serious conditions.
My MIL passed her medical and she has smoked for 45 years heavily, full of arthritus..but she passed.

I had a broken arm and was going through emotional stress at the time.Blood pressure was up so they turned me down.
Arm healed ,I went back to work and lost the weight I had put on due to inactivity and they said off you go,not a problem Good Luck.

I found the medical quite strict actually, it took a few months, lots of tests and a specialist consultant to get them to give me all the clear. This was in Sydney btw.

I hope that £90 was for several people?!

Stinker - when it comes to medicals,do shop around - just ring and ask for prices, as you will see that they can vary considerably. Good luck!
