This community has always helped me in solving queries ... thnx to all members ....
recently i have gotten PR ... i want to know that is it possible to open account in australia while being offshore ( still not made first entry) and transfer amount instead of carrying cash while migrating ???

Or you could open account when you get to Australia and then transfer money over.

Contact the bank. For heavens sake if you can post a thread on a forum you can surely contact a bank.

Look at the Aus banks websites you will find links to accounts for new migrants and intended migrants. Westpac, NAB, and plenty others do this. You can transfer cash once opened but will not be able to access it until you have arrived and activated the account in person, so make sure you pick a branch that will be easy to get to early on. They all have 24 hour call centres so you can ring and ask if unsure or use an on line chat session with them.
