Default How Much to start your life?

I know that new migrants cant find jobs immediately in Australia.
for a small family (husband and wife)
How much is enough to start their life in Australia( Sydney / Melbourne)?
lets say they cant find job for few months.
How much shall they have to be in safe side?

We are budgeting for 12 months without work. If it gets any longer than that we will be coming back. We should be able to get somthing though, even if its as a farm hand/shop worker or somthing, so i am not overly concerned.

For the 12 months we will have $23k set aside, for general living costs. The biggest expenditure is probably going to be rent, at about $1000 a month. That will leave us with a further $11k to live on until we get work.

It really is somthing you need to to work out for yourself though, as its very dependant on what you do and where you intend to live.

I would say budget to have at least $2k for every month without work......

We looked at rentals

and did it this way

$250 dollars a week rent for six months
$5000 car stamp duty and insurance maybe more
$15000 to live off for 6 months

converted it and looked what we could save etc.

Like Pete we will try and get work in our own fields firs then if all else fails we will do any work.
