How much is healthcare for a family of 4?
Hello
We were just wondering how much people are paying for private healthcare in Australia as looking at things on an SIR visa you are not covered for healthcare, is this right?
I have been searching on past posts but have not found a rough idea of how much standard private healthcare would cost for a family of 4.

Sorry I can't help with the cost of the insurance policy (although you should be able to get some indicative prices from various health insurance websites - run a Google search to find them), but if you are a UK citizen you should be entitled to Medicare cover for immediately necessary treatment even though you are on an SIR visa.

You can use medicare UK+Aus agreement on temporary visa. But its supposed to be only for essential treatment.
This good website for private medical insurance and you can get a quote for a family. Online it only takes a second.

The visitors cover seams very reasonable for those on a temporay visa. Gives you price for whole family and is cheaper than the amount mentioned above.

see Medicare Levy Surcharge for tax implications of having private healthcare if your family income is greater than $100k.
If you join within a year of arriving you will be treated as 30 (unless you already are). See Lifetime Health Cover.
