Re: How much did you pay for your 20ft container?
Hi
We paid £3500 door to door for full wrap and pack service in a sole use 20ft container with BRITANNIA (HARRISON & ROWLEY) from Hertfordshire/Bedfordshire border to Perth in March this year. 3% extra for the insurance and we were happy with that. We did have a couple of minor damages/breakages and the insurance company paid up very quickly.
Wridgways in Perth sorted out the receipt of the container at the docks and all the paperwork when the container arrived and delivered the container to us this end. They unloaded the container and unpacked all our boxes for us. An excellent service from both companies who I would personally recommend.
Check out various insurance companies as we found a loophole that worried the pants off us - no cover if the container falls off the loading dock or ship!!
Good luck.

On another note - if you do decide to 'Do it Yourself' then be prepared as once the container arrives at your door you only have 2 hours to pack everything in. If you go over the 2 hours you may be charged extra by the haulage company.
A friend of mine decided to do it themselves. When their container arrived, the driver unhooked the trailer outside their house with the container on it and drove off. He told them that they had 2 hours to load everything and then he would be back. My friends then had to find their own way of making a ramp upto the container doors. They had just got rid of all her hubbies building planks at the local rubbish dump the weekend before !

And how was everything when it arrived at final destination?
Was shipping/transit time extended much for being a shared container?
cheers.
