as i have not been a member on here for very long i cannot help notice the amount of bricklayers on here,seeing how times have never been better in the u.k for us trowels what is it that appeals to you about living and working in oz??

hubby is a brickie and is tired of the wet and cold here, working his backside off for pretty crap pay, working all hours 6 days a week and the lack of opportunity to progress - other than that, he loves his job

god it seems that all of these repies are going to be the same them...... dito to all you just said, and the fact that he loves the sun shine.

What do you imagine laying bricks in a aussie summer will be like, I know what my Aussie partner would say if I suggested he become a brickie here in summer, however its not really printable on a family forum

i just hope he makes enough money in the ausssie winter so we and i mean we dont have to work in the summer too much.

Cost per brick? (materials - range ?)
Time to lay?
Best time of year versus worst time of year (assuming certain conditions are better than others).
Charge rates - is it per 1000 bricks? think I heard someone say $750 per 1000.

2 brickies 1 labourer about 5-6 weeks
Winter is traditionally drier than summer so less chance of effervescence staining or joints washing out, also cooler for the guys
$750 is erring on the cheap side up here could be right for your area though

As for working in the summer in Oz, most brickies start early and finish early and he may even 'lose' some days. Still, even between the Oz winter and summer, he still should lose less days than he does here.

well if its to hot tools in the bucket and get the rods and tinny out.i thought life was for living in oz,not working,thats what I'm going for.
