Our container cleared customs about a week before it cleared quarrantine. They are totally different. I'd ask what the hold up is - is it quarrantine or is it because Anglo-Pacific are booked on deliveries. We went with GB liners - were very good. Their agent Kent, booked us in for a delivery before it cleared quarrantine because they are just so busy.

Have you spoken to Kent, their agent at the other end-they may be able to give you a better idea? I think it's normally minimum a month anyway..

Ring the company dealing with this end and ask them what the hold-up is; it may well be stuck in Customs, as that can take up to 2 months sometimes. My stuff that came in from AP through Brisbane came in via OSS (I think, from memry), it wasn't Kent anyway, so you'll need to check with AP who the importing and delivery company is.

Hello, ours stuff arrived at Perth on 20th September.

We just got phone call on Friday saying they will deliver on Sunday. So this is about a month like Polly says. Ours is being delivered by Kent, who were rubbish at communication!

After several delays on the container arriving in Perth, (it missed a connecting ship), we were informed it arrrived 24th September, and in 3rd October, we were phoned to arrange delivery, we have had to put it in storage as we had hoped it might take a couple of weeks longer!!!

This end it is Chess removals,

We found it easier to do without furniture in the uK and sent ours 3 months before we flew, at least we had family to borrow things off in Uk. If you know no-one in oz its great to have your belongings a phone call away, and have it delivered the day you move in.

Hi

Ours berthed on 9th October and they said 10-15 working days after for clearance as yet silence. I did hear that up to September its a busy period because of all the imports arriving in time for christmas. This may affect removal companies also??

Mine arrived Sydney today -

Have been told 10 - 12 WORKING days to clear customs and Quaranteen. They said that its just ahead of the Christmas rush.

The company I'm dealing with here have not been very good so far. Even tried to charge me $500 for something the UK shippers had included in their quote - and thats before the thing even docked.

I'm expecting the 'sea gull poo on container cleaning charge' any moment!

Its such a hassle waiting for your container with all your belongings in it...most rental properties are unfurnished and although there are companys out there that rent furniture packages it works out expensive. Like you say nobody to borrow off....

Hi

We've just had confirmation that our container has cleared customs and they can deliver tommorrow! We are glad we went with Britannia Movers (Hull) UK they have been excellant. The company this side OSS World Wide so far has been very efficient. We only had to pay the $396 for the compulsory quarantine inspection fee (20ft container).

We cleaned a lot our stuff with Virkon and then stuck a copy of the Virkon packet stating we had cleaned it with Virkon. We did this for bikes/golf stuff and shoes - we made it easy for them by keeping the shoes in two boxes clearly labelled. Mind you we didn't take any garden tools or a lawnmower too - tough to clean! The garden furniture we cleaned with Virkon and then wrapped it all in cling film before letting the removal people at it that way any stray poop didn't land as they put it in the container!

Judging by others its all a bit of a lottery - a friend declared a bottle or champagne and a bottle of gin yet they only charged duty on the champers???

I'll report back what happens when it arrives - they say they do tend to open an lot of boxes - just praying that all my framed paintings are in tact!

Our stuff got delivered yesterday by Kent.
Items all correct and nothing damaged. Well we havent found anything and opened all the boxes.

Kids think its christmas and toddler was jumping with joy seeing her toys being brought in.

We used excess baggage in the UK.

Poor you having to wait so long for your stuff. We used a whole container and our stuff arrived before we did (took about 4 weeks) but two lots of friends who had half containers waited ages. One family waited 10 weeks and the other family are still waiting (their stuff has now cleared customs, thankfully - but they were charged $100 for cleaning a pair of kids shoes). Hope you get your things soon - it'll make all the difference to how you feel.
