How long do it take for a cheque to clear?
I am sending a cheque from Ireland to Australia, the cheque is almost 4 months old(I had mislaid it for awhile).
How long will it take for it to clear from an Australian bank?

Not sure, your bank will be able to tell you.
I deposited a cheque from Canada and it took about 5 weeks I think, which is pretty much what the bank told me would happen when I did it.

Can take anywhere from 4 to 8 weeks. I used to work in an Australian bank and I am pretty sure we used to physically send the original cheque back if the bank required it, hence the long delay.
The bank you are depositing with will advise at the time of deposit. Don't forget they will also charge for doing this.

Depends on the Dollar value at the ANZ, less than a 1000 dollars they put it straight into your account (after reliving you a few bucks for converting it) more than the 1000 and they send it back to the originating bank.

The cheque is for 150 euro, which converts to about 235 AUD, it was sent to me in september 2009, it is a bank of Ireland cheque. I found it a few weeks ago, I am sending it to Oz, the cheque is over 4 months old, do this matter?
And was wondering how long it would take to clear in Oz?

As has already been said, it really depends on the terms of the bank - our bank makes us allow 4 weeks for a foreign currency cheque to clear, others have said upto 8 weeks.
The bank physically sends the cheque back to the issuing authority and (bizarrely) has to wait for a cheque to be physically bounced back. God knows what happened to the 20th Century and its technological advances.

I paid a cheque into the ANZ for £2000 they sent it back to the U.K, I paid another in a few weeks later for £675 and they exchanged it into $ and paid it into my account immediately.

I will be sending the cheque in the post this week, if the cheque can take up to 8 weeks to clear from the bank in Oz(sending it back and forth), would the cheque then be out of date? as it is 4 months old already.
I will ask bank of Ireland about it today when they are open, just wondered what some of ye have come across with this type of thing, 8 weeks seems ridiculous in this technology age!
