When I was in Oz on holiday 5 years ago I withdrew £2,000 spending money from my Lloyds account via an ANZ branch. When I got back home 6 weeks later the money was still in my Lloyds account and it was never actually taken, even though being an honest citizen I alerted Lloyds to this fact. lloyds response was "not our problem, it'll cost the ANZ". So I had the holiday of a lifetime for just the cost of the flights!

This happened to my brother, although with a much smaller amount, and he was told that once money has been credited to your account, it can't be withdrawn because it's the bank's mistake and you might well have *unwittingly* spent it....So you might well get to keep the money! (and run )

This happened to a work collegue many many years ago. Noticed large amount that shouldn't be there, spent it. Ended up in court (and the local rag). Shame really she wasn't a bad person, did what many would do.

OMG - I couldn't spend it - it's not mine! but I don't mind looking after it! If it was from another persons a/c I would ring the bank straight away but this particular donor has brought a smile to my face so I will leave it there - they will realise the mistake soon I am sure..as for now it's still sitting there
