Question How does the school banding system work?

Hi

Can anyone help please, we have just been granted our PR visas and have now switched our attention to whereabouts in North Brisbane we will settle, my 13 year old son will be attending secondary school so I'm trying to get some info on high schools.

I have checked out individual schools via Queensland Education's website:
http://www.education.qld.gov.au

The secondary schools have a band ranging from 8 to 11 from what I have found, what does this banding indicate?

Cheers
Lee
