...er it depends which city you're in...they all have different trains. I think most of them have a scrolling information screen which will tell you the next stop...maybe not some of the Sydney trains though. There will also normally be an audible announcement.

Yup depends on which city you are in? It is different on different trains in Melbourne. Some have screens, some have announcers, sometimes you just have to look for the sign on the platform and jump out!
Probably worth just getting the route map and counting how many stops you need to go if you are worried about it.

Trains in Perth have a display in each coach to tell you were you are, and what the next stop is

It comes to a stop and someone says everyone out !!

But that only works if your destination is the last stop on the line, like Cleveland, Brisbane Bayside, for example

Don't rely on the Metlink Melbourne trains' scrolling screen and recorded announcements. They were 1 1/2 stations out when I went on them last week so if you had your eyes shut you would end up 2 stations further than you needed to be - great!!!

I've seen them go in reverse order before as well!

In Sydney you just hear mumble announcement and while you spend time trying to decipher what he just said, you miss your stop.

Best bet, look out the window.

Or look anxious and/or ask a helpful person! you can't always see on the upper or lower deck..

Usually you know becasue the train stops when it reaches your destination unless the brakes are broken then you have to jump for it

Was about to type just that. Either you can't hear them or they get carried away on the mike and go on and on.

Big signs on all the stations, and plenty of time to get out - assuming the gits blocking the door stop pretending you're not there and actually move or, better still, step off the train to let you out and then get on again. I do it, why can't they?

Ah, rush hour in Sydney. I soon adjusted my hours to miss the worst of it.

I tried adjusting the hours, but found it better to adjust the city. Brisbane trains are better. not a lot better, but better.
