Smile How do we connect our UK phones to Aus phone sockets?

Hello

Our UK telephones have standard UK phone plugs like this -

However in our rental the phone sockets are RJ11 like this -

Does anyone know if we can buy adapters or anything, or will we have to buy new phones?

Thanks

Buzzy

Checkout Dick Smith - they have every type of adaptor possible.

You should be able to get an adapter in Dick Smiths, otherwise I may be able to find one around here we don't need anymore

i don't believe you are meant to... only Telstra approved equipment can be plugged in to a Telstra line
but yes you can get adapters from DSE and places

Yup. its not allowed, and thats why places like tandy don't sell them.

It can be easier to replace the whole phone lead with one with rj11 at both ends as most phones have an rj11 input as the global solution.

The back of most new phones have RJ11 sockets and the cable is a RJ11 plug (in to the back of the phone) to BT plug (in to the wall). Simply buy an RJ11 to RJ11 lead and you'll be fine.

there are two types of Aus phone socket, you can get UK-Aus socket adapters from ebay UK, but make sure you are getting for the right socket. And for gawds sake don't let telstra know, cos as said earlier, its a real no-no.

Our UK BT cordless phone didnt work at all over here, even after adapter changes. Dont ask why, same as why I had bother with my UK ADSL modem too.
