Post How do I contribute to Australia

Hi,
Anyone coming on a PR Visa carrying something remarkable with him/her in one or another way. We may bring our education, experience, wealth & health etc. we look forward for a better life for us and our family. Of course, our personal development directly or indirectly contributes to the nation's development. however how do we contribute or focus our mind that how we can contribute to the Host country we have chosen to live.

What are the sigificant impact we can make it there or what shortfall we can fix it there for further development of our future nation. or Is that our children going to make it since we were not born there or having a dual nationality by mindset?.

Let's hear all opinions.

I think that's the first time I've heard such a question here - it's normally "what can Australia do for ME and where is my visa ?" rather than the other way around.

I would suggest that anyone from overseas could do no worse than bring the best of their own culture and therefore improve Australian culture - surely that is a worthy goal ?

Well done on such a wonderful post! Sometime I get really tired of Brits coming to Australia expecting everything to be handed to them on a platter... rarely do you here the question you posed in the heading

There are quite a few people on BE and migrants I know in the real world that do something to contribute - I know volunteer firefighters, lifeguards, SES, people who volunteer their time at schools...or work for a charity

There is tons to do to contribute. Just look around once you are here and see where your skills can be put to good use.

We're not all take and no give.

Well done for a very good post

I joined the SES as I wanted to be involved in the local community and also try something new.

I am always amazed at the different nationalities that are in it, sometimes when I wonder if there are as many migrants as aussies in it.

I agree, I often wonder how Australia would survive if it wasn't for the immigrants bringing in their cash to start businesses and pay hugh amounts of tax that is then given away to the workshy.

I like the idea of joining the SES, I think I may do that one day.

You get to jump through windows of embassies and all sorts

Seriously, bring your culture, your humour, your work ethic and be prepared to find things to like to replace the things that you will inevitably miss.

hmm so your question is, not what wealth, education you can bring to australia but how you can bring your mind? and how your mind can improve australia?

strange question

As long as you bring your money and dont ruffel to many australian feathers by pointing out things that are crap, aussie dont like that, they carnt take criticism of what they think is the best country in the world, then you will get on fine.

Also dont think your going to get a better way of life for your family, it may not be. It might be worse, or it might just be different rather than better

The right attitude, which this kind of question indicates you have, will go a long way to contributing to Australia!
