housing in melbourne
we are going to Melbourne in November. We have no family there and we would like to get a place to rent as soon as possible. Anyone any idea how long it takes to rent property. As we don't want to impose on friends.

Re: housing in melbourne
It depends on a lot of things.... real estate agent, your credit background, the
area, the place you wanna move in etc. Sometimes it can be quick like in a day or
two. One day you go to the agency, get a key and check the place. You like it, you
lodge the application form. Maybe later in the day or the next day they ring you up
and say you get that place. If that place is ready to move in, you can move in soon.
If the place is not quite ready, then ....... If the agency you go to is a bit fussy,
it takes longer time. Which area are you going to move in?

Lavina,Nick and Stuart,
I contacted various real estate agencies in the area we were looking at (Glen Waverley, south east btw) and gave them our circumstances. I got varying replies, but the general consensus was that it would take between 2-5 days from confirming you wanted the house, to moving in.
Cheers,
Paul.
