Jammy or what! Well done! We're waiting for exchange of contracts at the moment, nail biting stuff as we have to validate by May. Then it's off to Perth asap. Can't wait.

Congrats on sale of house!
We would like to put ours on the market as soon as we get news of our visas (we are Sept 01 - have completed meds etc - just playing a waiting game at moment).
Not brave enough to do it until get news from DIMIA!
However did get house valued today - price risen by around 30% in the course of our 16 month ish wait!!
A nice shock - mind you the house prices in OZ have risen during that time too!

Good Luck to all still waiting.
Fingers crossed.

Hi Dave & Yve

Well done on selling your house.
Hope your visas arrive soon.
It was last March when we met up in Birmingham and the wait has been worth while.

Cool news!! So how long did it take to sell?

We put our house on the market last week and am already getting worried that we won't sell - is this normal?

Hi guys,
Well we were very lucky, our agent had a lady on their books who was specifically looking for a house in our road in horsham
West sussex(good facilities, not overlooked, backs onto a forest, etc, etc)so the house went on the market last saturday,
she viewed on mon and it was sold on the tuesday.
Mind you we did drop 2.5k as she was a cash buyer and we twisted the agents arm to take 1.25% insted of 1.5.(saved the cost of the vat).
Our estate agent did warn us b4 hand that very few of his clients have been getting the asking price recently because of that twat
on the tonight programme with his doom and gloom!
Best of luck with your sale

We had our medicals a fortnight ago and put ours on the market then - no viewers yet. Should I be panicing? Have to be honest I wouldn't pay the price we are asking - but that's what the agent valued it at so who am I to argue.

Hi Welshgirl,

We put our on last week and have had two cancellations at the last min. Real pain in the bum as your whole day evolves around these appointments, trying to tidy and get the kids and animals out of the way. Then they don't turn up.

Starting to feel the same way as you and getting worried but suppose you never know whats round the corner and it is early days. Don't know how long these things take but all the estate agents said give it 4 or 5 weeks to sell. Never sold a house before so don't know.

Hi,
We live in St Austell, Cornwall, we put our house on the market June 2002 and are just moving out (fingers crossed) Friday 14th Feb, contracts have been signed.
It has taken so long, we were going to OZ Oct 2002 but it will now be March.
When we got our house valued we were told that it will sell, really quick, how wrong were they!
We had the house built in 1999 large 4 bedroom but it is in the higher price bracket (£215,000) and the local people can't afford it.
If we had our time again I would of put it on the market before our visa's came (you can always pull out). Because it has taken so long to sell, things go around in your mind, and the doubt's start creeping up on you!

Good luck everyone.

Sue

I agree with Sue. We had our visas through May 2002 and are still here thanks only to the house sale. We are hoping to exchange next week after having had one sale fall through, and I think in retrospect we should have put the house on the market before our visas came through. We weren't totally sure we would get visas (is anyone?) and were playing on the safe side. However we did ask ourselves what we would have done had we not got visas and we thought we would have moved anyway. If you do sell before the elusive visas are granted you can always rent in the short term and then you are ready for the off.

Well done Abergas -b*****d(just kidding).
Sure you all know the BB manor story.Been up for sale 9 months in a street where agents say will sell quickly.Had a sale where the buyers dissappeared, one who found he couldn't afford it (working classes, who needs 'em),& one who mucked us around over the price (we didn't budge) & wanted it off the market even though their house wasn't sold yet.

Why is it that everything around aseems to be about Oz,or quick house sales,or a massive crash in the market ?

BB-manic depressant
