Hopefully almost there...
Just spoke to our case officer in Washington DC. If we send our passports with our police checks he said that he could turn round the visa within 24 hours!! We are applying for PR via the Employer Sponsored so I know this is a lot quicker that some routes.
Now I can start looking at flights!!

Yes, the last few years have been pretty busy and I didn;t mention Glasgow, Bristol and South Wales before that..
We are hoping to stay in Melbourne for a bit longer - possibly 5 or more years. My hubby has a permanent job there so it all depends whether we like it. But who knows!!

Well good luck with it. Its 4.30am here in Melbourne & it must only be around 8 or 9 degrees outside, what the locals call freezing lol.
Last two Winters have been very mild so not sure if thats a good thing or not.

8 or 9 degrees - that's warm !...
Well it feels like it when you have had 6 months of FREEZING weather. Seriously when it gets above freexing here - all the students wear shorts and start having barbies. Crazy mainers...

Helen, good news! We're off there too (will be visiting in May for the validation trip, then moving sometime July-Sep) - so I guess that's another 2 for the Expats Girls' Nights Out!

Thanks, and yes - a girls night sounds good to me!
We have found (being away for 2 years) that you do miss some things but it gets easier with time, and not constantly comparing eveything with Britian helped us adjust. Also, email, webcams, digital photos, all help to keep the communication with family open. My Mum often says that she knows more about our life here than she did when we lived in Edinburgh!
