Different people want different things :-) Manly is great for being by the beach, having a good social life in the evenings etc etc and still being able to get to a national park with only a few minutes walk. It's more likely to appeal to single people/young(ish) couples without kids in my opinion who enjoy going out in the evenings.

Have to say I loved Manly, although I agree the housing costs are high!

:-)

Uh huh ... but Lets be honest, most of The Wynnum end of Manly is just an architectural eyesore. Shoving HUGE lowsets on the dinkiest blocks.

Place we worked at today, had the most humungous bleedin rooms, and admittedly looked sweet inside, but outside LMAO ... i was gerrin splinters in my elbow, off the fence tightening a screw into the house wall.... talk about Hemmed in lol

You should have seen it 20 years ago when no-one want to live there. Most of the reputation is based on the Mirvac development on the old Edgell farm. Give some of those houses a few years and Manly will have gone full circle.

I think we're talking about the two different Manlys here. TFA is referring to Manly in Brissy, not Manly, Sydney. Or have I missed the beach and national park in the bayside area of Brisbane?

I'm bored at work, can't you tell?

Mrs JTL

P.S. The cheeky JTL posting above is my husband who forgot to log me out, again...

Sounds like some of the new suburbs and redevelopments here in Perth. Saw one comment recently about them looking 'like dowagers crammed into bikinis': there's a nice mental image to dwell upon in your dark moments.....

I'm planning on renting in Manly when I move next year - Manly, Sydney!! I stayed there on my validation trip and really enjoyed it. It's a great place - the Corso can get a bit lively at the weekends but is no different from any other places where there are a few bars. The beach is stunning - and it is close to some other cracking beaches on the Northern Shores.

I'm hoping to get somewhere decent to rent between $350 and $450 pw .... gulp!!!

Cheers

Just been looking myself... my budget is $350-$500 a week.. looking at Manly, Fairlight, Queenscliff.. ideally a 5-10 minute walk to Wharf...

Other criteria... 2 bedrooms, internal laundry, LUG

Found a number of possibles.. some including great sea views, although generally more in the $400-$500 price range unless you go to Queenscliffe.

:-)

Hiya,

Yep, just did a search for 2 bed rentals in Manly, Fairlight, Queenscliff in the price range and quite a few come up. LUG and Internal laundry definitely limit the choices, however I have a motorbike so want a garage rather than just a parking space. Parking in Manly in the summer will be manic, so parking is important.

One consideration for Manly is that depending on where you work, commuting could be a real pain...

When are you planning on moving out?

:-)

Ahhh, got it now, the OP is talking about Manly Brisbane, and subsequent posters took that to mean Manly Sydney.
