Hi Donna
Welcome to BE.
Can't help with getting together I'm afraid but just wanted to say hi.
Hopefully there will be some Gold Coast 'locals' along soon to help you out.

How often do you go back? It can be quite disruptive, each time you go back you're on holiday, your friends and family give you a brilliant time, then you come back to real life. If it's really bad, is there any option of you moving back, living with friends or rellies whilst you get on your feet?

Hey money penny, I am 26. Yea I have made a few amazing friends but it's been really hard work, lucky to have them in my life. I work as a nurse and the people their are amazing, mixture of age groups. I miss silly things back home like proper pubs and food etc as well as my family and friends of course. Yea your right about things being amazing when your back as everyone makes the effort to see you. I can't go back at the moment as have few ties one being I got two dogs, but we shall see what the future holds :-)

Hi
Gees iv been here 3 months and hoping it would end some time soon.
Some days I feel so homesick it takes me an hour to get out of bed, I still well up saying I love you and ending a call to Mom in the UK and found a lot of Aussie men and women to be arrogant right wing narrow minded cheesy American influenced non-denominational (not in the religious way) and soulless BUT we have those in the UK too.
I tell myself that is because I am new here I don't know many people here my attention to what I see and hear is hyper sensitive. Id say go to the UK for a few years, find a job do things the UK way and like me you might just appreciate more what you left behind and think have a two year Holiday and go home OR you might realise your in the best situation already and return to OZ.
Hope I haven't confused.

Just recently moved to the Gold Coast with the wife, kid and dog! (well he gets here from Quarantine on the 19th!) Always up for meeting more people!! I will get the Laura on here (we are 26 and 27 btw) and we could always meet for a dog walk or a coffee....
Where abouts on the GC are you?
Cheers

Yeah it isnt the cheapest to fly the dog over, we used a small company in Dunfermline, Scotland. Who arranged everything for us, well they where meant to but missed a vaccination on his card so he was left in kennels in London for a few days. Thankfully it was sorted and he made it over.
Couldnt have imagined leaving the dog, only would have considered it if family or a close friend could have taken him, but nobody said they could!! He is only 3 so hopefully plenty of life still in him!!
Where about is the botanical dog park? Not having the dog here yet we are still learning the best places to take him!
