Hiring a car
Has anyone used vroom vroom cars for hiring in Australia? They seem very reasonable, but would like any feedback.
Thanks

Re: Hiring a car
are they not just a comparison site?
go through the process of finding a car with them then google the pickup adress to see which company it is and go direct - cut out the middle man.

Depending on where you're going. bayswater rentals are usually the best value & their insurance is very good not the usual rip offs other places do...

I'm sure most of them will if you ask nicely. Either that or they'll come and pick you up and take you back to the office to complete the paperwork. The place we used did and they didn't advertise the fact. The owner of the apartment we were renting rang and asked them to come to us and they did.

Also, there are a few rental companies at Southern Cross - this is where the SkyBus takes you from the airport.
Car rental in Melbourne is something I do a lot. Cheaper than having a car sitting outside the house 5 of the 7 days.

Have used vroom a few times and found them to have the best prices out of the other comparison sites for hiring a car and the service has always been good. I'd definitely recommend them.

Most of the large renters have CBD locations so you or your hubby could just take the train and pick up car from there as well. That is what we used to do. It works as long as you are happy to be thrown in at the deep end and drive through CBD within days of landing To prepare, make sure you research 'hook turns' before you go Geez, it's even got its own wikipedia entry!

Don't pay the hire company for collision damage waiver cover. You can buy it separately much cheaper, eg http://www.insurance4carhire.com/
Do photograph the car when you pick it up, especially if there are any marks or scratches (tell the hire company if they aren't already noted) so they can't try to get you to pay for damage you didn't do. Likewise photograph the car when you take it back. We got conned into paying for damage we didn't do on two separate occasions.
