Highs and Lows of moving to OZ

From: Herts to Langwarrin

Lows,Loads of drugs,violent crimes,suicides,car crashes,alchol abuse.[not saying you dont get that in England,maybe cause its more publicised here]cant walk to your local pub, Highs,cheap housing,weather ,beaches,outdoor life,shorter working week,our kids actually like school here,sports,laid back lifestyle.shop assistants are not grumpy,Not saying we dont like it here, we love it, but just saying its not as perfect as we imagined.

I've spent several months in Aus and quite frankly, considering how liberal the gun laws are there, I'm amazed that crime isn't a whole lot worse. Like the UK though, it's largely demographic.
Won't put me off going though......

Yep...its all here...shootings in the city, syringes in the playground local to us (and we live in a decent area), etc,etc.
No where is perfect - unless you can afford to buy your own, private island!!!

I used to work in offices off Haymarket and regularly had to step over people passed out on our steps with foil and syringes in their hands. Although we had security
we had to have yale keys for each toilet cubicle so they couldn't get in off the streets and shoot up.
I can't imagine there is a country in the world that doesn't have a drug problem. Maybe Afganistan - they export it all, so maybe don't keep any for themselves.

We live in a decent area and I've not seen one syringe. Graffiti, litter but nothing worse than this.
