Hi Everyone
Don't seem to recognise many of the names, hope they are all on their way to oz!!!
We have been here 2 months now, in our own home, which is great, especially with all of our things around us. My teenage boys have settled in there new school, seem to like it.
Hubby not found a job yet, still waiting to start his training as a gas fitter, has to do a course before he gets a licence to work, as a gas fitter.
So far so good, feels more like home, had some reallu tough days when we feel like going home, but they soon pass when we go cycle riding along the coast at Warnbro sound, the beach is beautiful.
hope to here from anybody moving to the area, Rockingham, Port Kennedy, Mandurah, etc when they arrive.
It's difficult to meet new people when your kids are independent.
bye for now

Hiya,
Yeah lots of new names around, but some of us oldies are still here too!
Sounds like you're settling in OK; good to know that if there are bad days they'll pass - I shall remember that for November! Good that the boys are sttling in too - that must make you feel better, and I'm sure you'll soon start to meet people.
Keep us posted, and good luck!

Hi Abergas,
Nice to hear that you have settled in and have your new home already.
You are bound to find it dificult at times. I am sure that you didn't expect it any other way, especially after reading some of the things on here. At least you would have been a bit prepared for setbacks.
We are moving to WA and will be staying with my Brother who lives in Mandurah for a short while. We haven't decided exactly where we will be living yet.
Unfortunately we are still waiting for a buyer for the house, so we are going nowhere till we can get out of here.
DianeOz is having a get together for the girls on the 27th Sept in Perth for the girls. I think there are a few going. If you look her up, the more the merrier, and at least you have got other newcomers then.

Hi Abergas,
Good to hear from you. You sound like you have got a lot of things sorted already - I hope things continue to go well for you.
Things are much the same here, lots of people are trying to sell their houses - with varying amounts of success.
Keep in touch.

Hi Abergas,
Good on you for keeping your chin up during the tough times. Sure that it will make you even more appreciative when yu can overcome the obstacles (As I have been told a lot!).
Hopefully I will get the 'thumbs up' this week. Should have a decision by Wednesday (6th). Thats if they aint lost my police check (please god - not another setback!)
Take care and enjoy yourself!! Have a drink for me and Zoe...

Hi Abgergas
Saw your post - yup, come along with us on 27th September. Loopy is coming and I know you guys have met up a few times.
Bring Mrs Baldbutts along too.
We are going to the Stamford Arms at Scarborough, I know it's a bit of a hake for you guys but hey it's only kilometres. We can always come down your way for the next one, I've never been down your way.
I had my first bought of homesickness this weekend. I turned into a snivelling wreck - ( We have been here 7 months.) Don't know why, suppose because it is all so normal and routine now. I miss the everyday connections/history that we had with folks at home. Our kids are younger and that's a pain too cos we can't socialise properly (if we had the chance) in the evenings due to no flipping babysitters.
I'm 36 and work full time which I'm finding quite hard as we're up and out by 7am everyday, I'm knackered all the time.
It doesn't take much to perk you up though like you said. the beaches always do the trick for me. I find them very tranquil.
Anyway, I'll stop blabbing

We keep meaning to drive up to your area and look around, but never get the time. We've heard that the new Warnbro swimming pool is lovely (which is a sore point here in Mandurah because the council won't build a decent 50 metre one). I've heard a few nice things about Port Kennedy, we avoided Rockingham when we first arrived here, but it sounds like you've picked the "nicer" part. How did you enjoy the storms on Saturday night? We awoke to find the fence down, so we now have the joys of getting quotes and making an insurance claim.

Keep your chin up Dianeoz,
You are bound to have your ups and downs.
Look, I an 44 and yes I like a night out now and again, but don't mind doing the odd babysitting job.
Perhaps this is where expats can come into its own, when we are all out there. We could have a babysitters club. Then we would have loads of people who we could call on. What do you think?
Keeping my fingers crossed that we may sell the house soon. Someone is coming back at the weekend. Might make the 27th Sept yet.

I know when my aunty moved to canada 20 years ago she set up a babysitting club and they all picked a weekend and a mum would go round and look after kiddies whilst they went out.All done on a rota so everything was fair ( she said it saved her sanity)
We went to see eddie Izzard the other day and it cost us 70 dollars for a babysitter!!!
Sounds like a good idea!!
