Default HGV Licence

Could anyone tell me what the UK HGV licence is equivalent to in Australia. I have tried emailing and phoning dpi but have had no luck with them coming back to me.

Thanks

thanks for coming back. I though heavy rigid would be HGV 3 as an HGV1 bends in the middle (sorry about the terminology)

I know what you mean, My licence converted to MR (Medium rigid) and I had an LGV2, there is no such thing as HGV nowadays, has not been for about 15 Years.
Heavy rigid is the next one up so I guess this would be the Class 1 licence.

Wink Re: HGV Licence

Do you know if there is plenty of work with this sort of licence or if you have to do the raodtrain licence to get work. We are applying for a visa on my skills and I'd hate to think that he wouldn't be able to get a job when we got there.

I think there is a fair amount of work around for all driving licence types. I have not changed mine over for a Queensland one because I do not work as a driver anymore and it required actually doing the practical and theory tests from scratch over here, something I could not be bothered with.

Thanks forcoming back. I won't tell him he will have to resit the test (especially the theory). It is just something to bear in mind if he can't find anything else.

Thanks Again
