google maps will give you driving directions, and times, to and from any point in Australia.
Translink website (http://www.transinfo.qld.gov.au/) will give you traveling times etc, for bus/train/ferry transport from Brisbane to plenty of destinations in SEQ.
For example, travel by car from Brisbane to surfers paradise is approx 1hr15mins, whereas by public transport it is 2hrs 20mins approx.
Travel by car from Brisbane to Caloundra is approx 1hr 50mins, whereas by public transport it is the same as to surfers....2hrs 20mins approx.
Travel by car from Brisbane to Bribie (surfside) is approx 1hr 40mins, whereas by public transport it is between 1hr 50mins and 2hrs 20mins approx.
Travel by car from Brisbane to Redcliffe is approx 45mins to 1hr, whereas by public transport it is between 45mins (if you catch the redcliffe express bus) and 1hr 20mins...... Note that Redcliffe does not have a surf beach as it is inside moreton bay and has very calm waters. If you're looking for waves and white sandy beaches, the other spots are probably better options. However Redcliffe does have the belvedere hotel instead

Another useful website is the QR website, giving you travel times to destinations that are a bit further afield,
hope this helps.
