Supposing you'd of had loads of spare room in your shipping container... What do you now wish you'd taken with you to Oz because:
A) You can't get it out there
B) You can get it out there but the quality is pretty poor
or
C) Its just too darn expensive out there

You really do need to shop around as prices vary greatly between stores, not just talking a couple of $,sometimes as much as $30+ for exactly the same make or brand.

Recently bought a great sofa here from DFS, wondering now if we should buy another as we will have the room for it.

We will probably bring most things I think. We are not too sure about our washing machine and tumble dryer though. They are both about 5 years old so will probably conk out soon. We are thinking about buying a new washing machine and taking it with us as we've heard that they are not so good out there.
After reading the posts on here, I think we will take almost everything so that we have it. Once we are there we can always get rid of it if we don't need it any more. I think it is probably best to take it rather than leave it behind and then wish you had it once you arrive.

Nonsense,I have more modern, stylish furniture here that i had in my home in the UK!(my opinion
) Again you have to shop around.I had the same thinking when i looked at websites (houses for sale) just to get an idea of how ozzies dressed their homes & OMG did i get a shock,it was YUK!!
I do have a leather sofa,(could'nt afford one in the UK!) but fabric sofas do come in lots of plain colours & pastel shades.
It really is up to you regarding your sofa but the styles here are not as bad as you think or have seen-honestly!!

lots of top loaders if that's what you mean but personally had no problem with the one we had to use when we first got here. Loads of front loaders around now.If you have space, bring it all and more. If there are sales on before the container comes to you, you could get a matching sofa for your current one. Basically, everything you use in the UK you will use here with a few variations.

Ok, 9' 6", but the quality is excellent! ...

We bought a 6 seater table for $900 and this kind of quality again would've cost double in the UK IMO.

Other than that, nothing. Except possibly more books.
