i've been ID'd every time i've been out in QLD, and my friends all carry passports/drivers licence/proof of age cards as they expected to be ID'd when going somewhere.

It was a male bouncer the first time actually, didn't look old enough to be out of junior school I was with a crowd of girlie expats and they all screamed with laughter as much as I did!!!!

Maybe its a Qld thing - they do seem paranoid about stuff like that, ID for everything, won't serve pints of strong lager in a lot of places, and the pub opposite work actually asked 2 of us to leave because we had been there all afternoon, drinking slowly, talking quietly!!! The locals seem to take this kind of thing for granted.
