Surely Jaj no one could be that cruel. My family are all affected by this 'statement'. I prefer not to think that someone could say such a thing, knowing the ramifications of such a comment.

Anyway- of course we went 'oh right, b*****s' but I really havent got a clue as to the workings of the HC and how things are done.

Have you some insider information?????

Then why are they behind the rest of the world. AHC has one of the longest
processing time's in the world.

'Clearing the backlog'
Does that mean processing them and catching up .....or doing them all at the speed they came in at. ie processing a month worth, takes a month?

It means what it says. As AHC London isn't getting any new
applications, it's just clearing out what it has. No, I don't know
the precise speed, but I've been of the view for a number of months
that they will have the majority of their applications cleared by the
end of this year, or very early 2003.

Some harder cases will take longer to fix.

Source please?

Most overseas posts were caught with a lengthy backlog when the system
was hit by the twin shocks of the IT fast-track and onshore graduate
processing in 2001.

Many offshore posts (eg Berlin) were as bad as, if not worse than,
London.

Adelaide got off to a quick start in November/December for some people
(even non-IT at the time) - contrary to expectations - but has slowed
up considerably since then.

Looking at the oversea's Australian embassy's websites, Some of them seem to
give processing time of visa's.

But for that augment to hold water, every Australian High Comission office's
visa procesing time would be more or less be the same.

Adelaide started from scratch in November 2001 and issued visa's for every
country on the planet and still beats AHC in London who only have to service
the untied kingdom.

A very broad brush statement of 'other visas' taking 9-12 months on
average. No information for skilled applications lodged (Washington
was not a particularly fast office recently, and had a temporary
shutdown of processing non-IT for a few months as London had over the
end of 2001).

I'm not sure if they're telling the full truth on aged parent visas
either.

They say 5-8 months but they can't be giving up to date information
about themselves, as the last skilled applications they received came
in almost 12 months ago.

If they're referring to Adelaide, the information's is out of date.

They've NEVER been the same. And a slow office could always become a
fast one, or vice versa. It all depended on application patterns
locally.

Smaller offices have fewer people working in them. Bigger offices
have more.

Look, just accept that you applied at the wrong time, you got caught
out mainly by IT fast-tracking and onshore graduate processing for
students.

If it's any consolation to you, many of the IT people who sailed past
you in the queue are now unemployed in Australia.

Yes I did make the mistake of believing what London AHC posted on their web
site.

The part that gets my goat up is that when I started to jump through the
Immigration hops, the visa processing time stood at 9 months, then 15
months, moved again to 18 months and now is at 20 months. Yet they are very
quick to take the money and then do nothing.


It creates a bad first impression of Australian officialdom if you have to
wait almost two years for a visa to be processed.
